Hunting for corn dogs and chocolate cheesecake fudge in a pandemic

My latest trip to Universal Studios Hollywood was part a hunt for new food and part a quest for Lunar New Year celebrations.

One was successful and one was not.

First, I wanted to try the corn dogs at the Mummy Eats. The rumor is the Korean corn dog is a must to try. So of course, I ordered a spicy corn dog. And it probably was a mistake. Not that it was bad, but probably not the best choice to eat before walking around the park all day.

Still, I spent some time enjoying my corn dog and watching Transformers for a while. I even caught a glimpse of the new Super Nintendo World progress. It looks like it is coming along nicely.

Next on my list was a trip to Hogsmeade and Honeydukes for some treats.

There are plenty of choices. I wanted to try Pumpkin Pasties, but they were out. So I settled for a piece of chocolate cheesecake fudge and a box of Fudge Flies. I had to wait until I got home to try them though. The spicy corn dog was not playing nice with other foods.

But both the fudge and Fudge Flies were worth the wait. I have no regrets, once the spicy corn dog settled.

As for Lunar New Year celebrations, there are not many of note in the park. A few stores have Lunar New Year merchandise, but the plaza is empty and it doesn’t look like there will be any special events for the Lunar New Year.

Too bad. Kung Fu Panda seems like a perfect fit for Lunar New Year.

It was a quick trip. The park wasn’t too busy for a Saturday in January.
