The Three Broomsticks, The Mummy and the Tiger Tail donut offer unique experiences

Eating breakfast at The Three Broomsticks was a bit of an eye-opener for a few reasons. One, going to the park right when it opens is probably the best time to be there. The crowds are small, the park is clean and the wait times are short.

Breakfast at The Three Broomsticks is surprisingly affordable too. It’s not much more expensive than having breakfast at a diner and the portions are generous.

Being my first time eating at The Three Broomsticks, I chose the traditional English breakfast. It came with scrambled eggs, potatoes, baked beans, bacon, sausage, ham, roast beef, sauteed mushrooms and a croissant. It had some unfamiliar breakfast items for me. Baked beans and mushrooms are not exactly part of my breakfast staples.

Scrambled eggs and sausage, on the other hand, are right in my breakfast wheelhouse.

Suffice it to say, it was filling in more ways than one. My stomach was as full as my heart after having breakfast at The Three Broomsticks. Eating in the shadows of Hogwarts in the morning adds a magical touch to start the day.

The Mummy

From Hogsmeades, I went to ride the renovated Mummy. It has been closed for a while, although I am not sure for exactly how long. It was closed during Christmas and has been closed since the start of the new year.

The wait to ride The Mummy didn’t kill me. Actually it was rather quick.

As for the ride, there’s a lot to unwrap. It could have been a bit livelier. And it didn’t last nearly long enough. It had its ups and downs. It was a wild ride, but in the end, it left me in the dark and struggling to find a way out.

One other thing that bugged me: scarabs.

In another life, it would be nice if The Mummy ride was a little longer, and had more space and room to grow.

Year of the Tiger

There isn’t much going on at Universal Studios to celebrate the Lunar New Year. However, there is a two-foot Tiger Tail donut available at Hollywood and Dine.

There is a full Lunar New Year menu that includes Pork Ramen, egg rolls, Year of the Tiger cookies and Mango Tiger Bobas.

The choices are limited, but the Tiger Tail donut feels like it never ends.

It’s taken me and my kids five days to trim it down to a few inches.

If anything, Universal Studios and City Walk have a strong donut game. Between Voodoo Donuts and Lard Lad, the donut choices were unrivaled.

Add the Tiger Tail donut and it raises the bar even higher.

Just make sure to invite plenty of friends to try to tame the Tiger Tail.
